Local record protocol · Effective 13 September 2026
Your expedition stays on your device.
The game requires no account, contains no advertising, and does not automatically upload your commands, transcript, save, or diagnostics.
Begin the descentWhat remains on the device
The game stores your saved expedition, entered command lines, transcript, display and sound preferences, and local playtest counters in this browser’s localStorage. Undo snapshots and command-history navigation remain only in the memory of the current tab.
Your browser may cache the game shell and same-origin assets so the installed app can reopen offline. Gameplay records are not placed in that cache.
Diagnostics are opt-in files
Nothing is shared automatically. Choosing Download standard diagnostic creates a file on your device containing progress totals, ratings, issue tags, room-level friction counts, and checkpoint timings. It excludes command wording, parser phrases, transcript and journal text, inventory, written feedback, and the complete save.
A detailed diagnostic can include rejected parser phrases only after explicit consent. Written debrief answers require a second opt-in. Transcript and journal text are never included. Downloading a file does not send it anywhere; sharing it afterward is your choice.
Audio and hosting
Optional ambience is produced locally through the browser’s Web Audio system. It downloads no audio stream, performs no recording, and carries no clues.
The game code includes no analytics or advertising trackers. The website is hosted on Akamai Cloud infrastructure (formerly Linode). The web server records ordinary request information—including IP address, browser details, requested pages, referring page, response status, and request time—to deliver, secure, and diagnose the site.
Server access and error logs are rotated daily and are ordinarily retained for up to about fourteen days. They are not combined with your local game save, transcript, commands, or diagnostics.
Retention and deletion
Local records remain until browser storage is cleared, the browser removes them, or the game overwrites the active expedition. Use your browser’s site-data controls to remove the save, settings, diagnostics, and offline cache. Delete any downloaded diagnostic files separately.
Because the game does not receive the local record, the creator cannot retrieve or delete it remotely. Privacy questions can be raised through the creator’s public channels linked from the release listing.
